A great idea has given birth to this book, as manufacturers surprise artists with new and even newer materials. These are new techniques that need to be introduced to amateur and professional artists. It is an eternal saying that everything is new to a newborn, and so colleagues just starting out in our profession are greeted by an abundance in the art supply shops. It's hard to get your bearings - the materials on the shelves are the products of the cheaper, commercial and the expensive, professional categories, the virtues of which need to be brought to the attention of artists.
